History of Black Tea
Scientific Name: Camellia sinensis
English Name: Black Tea
Ant Head Black Tea gets its name from the appearance of its round, brown granules, which closely resemble an ant's head. To prepare this tea, black tea leaves are fed into rollers with very sharp teeth. These rollers crush and then curl the leaves. The production process for this type of tea differs from regular tea, as in this method, the leaves are turned into narrow strips. Due to its special processing, Ant Head Tea brews very quickly. Black tea is derived from the Camellia sinensis plant and is one of the most popular beverages in the world. The first CTC machine for processing black tea was used in 1930 at the Amgoorie tea garden in Assam, under the supervision of Sir William McKercher. From the 1950s, the use of this machine expanded in India and Africa, leading to high-speed black tea production.
